A Valentine's Day reminder about visibility, belonging, and the people who help us become ourselves. A reminder to reach for your dreams and be yourself.
I see what you are saying about finding support, but I believe there is a more direct path. We don't need to wait for a 'Moomin family' or the kindness of others to belong.
The real work is proving yourself to yourself. When you validate your own worth internally, you stop being an audition for the world and you start manifesting. You take action, and that action is your presence in the universe. At that point, whether people 'understand' you or 'accept' you doesn't actually matter. You aren't seeking a grade; you are performing a self-audit.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts 🙏😊
I agree with internal validation being foundational. And that real work is proving yourself to yourself.
I don't see it as either/or, though. I think we're looking at the same journey from a bit different points.
Real change truly always starts within us. But change is a process. If we've spent years, especially childhood, being defined by our environment, we can't simply think ourselves into a different belief “overnight”.
And I think we can't ever even think ourselves into different kind of reality if nothing changes in our environment 🤔 We have to get the input towards a change from somewhere. So that we're even able to dream about something different.
And when we've started looking for a different truth, a different life, even a small word of encouragement or kindness can be the difference between believing in ourselves and giving up.
And at least it can make all the difference in how quickly we begin to believe in ourselves and the change.
So yes, I agree our own believe in our worth and capability matters most. But I've learned that sometimes we need to borrow belief from others until we can really hold it ourselves.
Maybe our perspectives are just different moments on the same path? ✨️🙃
Oh, such a sweet and warm post! Thank you. I can resonate with it so much, and it brought back feelings I had forgotten. Today I choose to step outside, to be the red‑haired woman glowing under the sunlight. Some days, that’s more than enough. And of course, to enjoy life.
This is a lovely story and heart share. Thank you for your warmth and courage to be visible and express yourself, for it is like a ripple helping others do the same. 💜
This is so beautifully written! I love how you portrayed your idea through a seemingly simple cartoon. Kudos to you for extracting such a profound message! I haven't watched it yet but after reading through your post, I have an urge to watch it now;)
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad to hear it resonated with you 💗
And I truly appreciate the time you took to read my words 🙏😊
I warmly recommend watching the Moomins. Some episodes can be found on YouTube, but I'm not sure if this particular one is there. I once found a shortened version, but not the full episode.
